History
Prior to the construction of route 9N, a small carriage road was the main land route from Bolton to Hague.  Parts of this ancient road still exist on privately owned land.  Along this route, about 2 miles north of Bolton, is a small family cemetery known as the Kenyon Cemetery, the resting location for local farmer families.  Besides the 8 inscribed monuments, many small field stones (about 100) scatter the landscape, possibly indicating a high mortality rate of un-baptized infants. Once a part of the Loines Estate, the current land owner has done an excellent job restoring sunken and buried tombstones and clearing debris and over growth.
